I wish I could remember the photographer's name, but he did a lot of work in NY on the beaches there. Mind you, I've never been to a beach before the day that I took this photograph, but it seemed like something straight from those photos I have seen from that photographer who's name I can not remember.
I found that walking around on a beach with a camera is rather tedious for a few reasons. I had already put my shoes on and didn't feel like taking them off and then hassling with getting all the sand off my feet to put them back on, so I tip toed around trying not to get sand in them. Also, sand is not a great thing to get in your camera, so you have that to worry about, especially if there is any breeze at all, which next to the ocean you can hardly avoid. But, mostly what felt most tedious, was not feeling like people thought of you as a pervert walking around with a camera on a beach. I had to just let go of those worries and not care.
So I waded though the sea of people with their umbrellas and towels, laying out on the sand as if they were beached whales, to a small hill made of sand, took a few pictures, looked around at the people, and realized no one gave a shit. The end.
I like this photo. Its more of a memory than anything. A not very distant memory, but a memory is a memory.

I know he did a lot of beach photography. Coney Island and stuff. Aside from all his lovely crime scene photos, of course.
What city might this be?
